Set the drawing's Coordinate Reference System
The CRS (Coordinate Reference System) of your file must match the CRS of the data you’re working with or exporting to. This ensures you avoid errors during import, export, or analysis.
STEPS
Open a new, empty drawing via File > New or use Ctrl+N.
Open the Select Coordinate Reference System window:
via the menu: Settings > Document Settings > Coordinate Reference System...
or via the Active Settings toolbar: click the icon
Choose coordinate reference system
Select the Coordinate Reference System (CRS) you want to use for your file.
Is the required CRS missing? Here’s how to add it.
Click OK.
Default CRS in Preferences
From version 2025 onwards, you can set a Default CRS in your preferences.
Go to Settings > Preferences > CRS.
Select one CRS and mark it as Default.
Every new drawing will automatically start with this CRS, saving time and ensuring consistency.
You can still change the document CRS at any time in Document Settings if needed.
RESULT
The selected Coordinate Reference System (CRS) is now active as the local CRS in the Control Panel.
Click the CRS button in the panel to see your list of preferred CRS options.
